Major Changes to Quarantine Periods Effective from Monday

PHNOM PENH: A new official notice has been signed by the Minister of Health, Mam Bun Heng, late on Saturday. He has given new clarifications over modifications of the Covid-19 quarantine requirements in the Kingdom. Set to start this Monday, the main modifications are for foreigners, diplomats and investors. They will now only need to undergo a three-day quarantine if fully vaccinated, or two weeks if not.

Cambodian and foreign nationals travelling to Cambodia without any business or diplomatic purposes are requested to quarantine for seven days, if they are vaccinated and have documentation that are required, such as a health care, the PCR test, visa and a vaccination card proving which vaccine has been administered.

Foreign diplomats and officials, with residences in Cambodia, are able to spend their quarantine at their homes following approval three-days prior to their flights. In the case of no request being made, people will have to stay at any of the hotels approved by the Health Ministry, such as Himawari, Sokha, Phnom Penh Residence, Courtyard by Marriott, and Raffles Hotel Le Royal and Sofitel Phnom Penh Phokeethra.

Businesses and investors need to possess an invitation letter, issued by locally registered companies that have fulfilled their tax obligations, and obtained from the Cambodia Data Exchange (CamDX). They will have to pay a deposit of $600 on arrival for use of quarantine, or treatment.

Foreigners without an invitation letter, who live in Cambodia or tourists wishing to come to the country, will have to go through similar procedures. However, they will need a $1,000 deposit on arrival to pay for their seven-day quarantine expenses. This does not apply to Cambodian nationals.

Visas on arrival are not being offered, so everyone wanting to travel to the Kingdom will have to request a visa from a Cambodian embassy before travelling.
